I would like to start an open source project between a group of fellow flashers. I have been designing an application, which has been started in coldfusion (fusebox methodology), but i want to transfer it to Flash.
I have the flash skills to draw the dashboard for the app.
I am just learning actionscript and cant yet do.
Have learned how to write coldfusion components but not learned how to connect flash to database using those components??

The objective for me is to build a 'skillscheduler', and a 'trades database'. I want to design the best, most comprehensive database of Building Trade skills. Theere would be companies who would use the system to enter a repair project, match the skill of the task to the tradesman, and send instructions by email and sms to the tradesperson.

I imagine the system design would work well for I.T Skills or any other skill which is required by a client and could benefit from online booking/scheduling.

The idea is for the suppliers of the trades skills to interact with the application / clients through a dashboard, sms and email.

I figured that other developers could help build the app, and adapt it for use in their own field; or to use components of the app in their own way in a totally different design?

I have a seriously good start and a full working application in fusebox, with an html designed dashboard at present with full security system.

Get in touch if you share an interest.

Here is the perfect example of how I have become completely paralyzed by options:

To start, I want to create a basic AS2 framework that will enable me to create a simple menu/content system that does the following:

click a menu item, load it's content.

Wow, sounds simple, right? Well, lets add some more details:

When a menu item is clicked, it should change appearance and function because it represents the current active content.

splinter 1 - maybe it should have an indicator of whether the content is already loaded
splinter 2 - perhaps it should have a loading indicator (instead of just loaded/not loaded)
splinter 3 - perhaps it should have a visited indicator that shows whether you have seen this content
splinter 4 - perhaps an indicator for new content that lets you know that visited pages have new content?
splinter 5 - can this be setup as an RSS/ATOM feed

-----------------------------------------backup

On my Stage,
I want a MovieClip that holds all of the content movieClips: contentHolder
I want a MovieClip that holds all of the menuitem movieClips: menuHolder

inside the menuHolder movieClip, i will have several movieClips that contain both a label (label_txt) and button (btn):menuClip
each menuClip will have a controller attribute that references the menuHolder (a little redundant since _parent exists, but maybe necessary for polym);
each menuClip will capture the button's mouse events and react to the onRelease event by alerting it's controller

the menuHolder object will then tell the contentHolder object to load the appropriate content when it receives notice from any of its buttons.

The contentHolder checks to see if the content is already loaded based on the data passed by the menuHolder.
If it is, it then tells the current content to hide and the new content to show itself
When the new content is active, the contentHolder tells the menuHolder to update its menuItem that corresponds to the current loaded content.

sounds good? Well, I set this up a dozen different ways and finally realized that there were some redundant processes going on:

the act of toggling the state of an item within in a group happens on both the menuHolder and the contentHolder.
In fact, the contentHolder and menuHolder are extremely similar if you make the showClip and hideClip functions modular.

So, I threw out all my work and started writing a class that would control groups of similar elements.

But then I thought: maybe I should be writing element-level classes that act as groups.

Then I thought: This is driving me crazy, I'm gonna start all over and not lose my focus this time.

Meanwhile the website is no further along, I have lost more hair and feel even less competent than when I started.

Attached is a Load/Send example with Flash and PHP.
A good way to test PHP and Flash is by installing WAMP Server on your machine. It is a free package that includes:

-Apache
-MySQL
-PHP

I am new to this but have done enough to get the attached example up and running. WAMP Server has been an excellent way to test database communications.

Nutrox helped me get this up and running by giving me the no caching code in the PHP scripts

I have to tell you about this cool Product I bought Its called a Media Server , It is a really cool Device It holds tons of DVDS on it Blue Ray Movies it holds tons of photos and it works with Itunes as well so you can play all your music. It is the most incredible machine I have bought in along time. I can even hook it up in another room and stream movies to my other flat panel while I'm watching a Blu-Ray. I bought my Media Server from Xtream Media they had very friendly service and really knew what they were talking about I bought the Pro-4800 and it was the best money I have ever spent . I had 2 great sales guy help me out. Jeffery Asherbranner and Jason Jennings from Xtream Media helped me out. They asked me a ton of questions so they could find out exactly what I was looking for . They got me exactly what I was looking for and I have never been happier. If you are interested in purchasing a Media Server The number is 888-752-7624 and there website is www.xtreammediaservers.com you wont be dissappointed.

Feeling superior is good but wont help much in keeping track of your prosperity.

I will describe my observation which helped me in getting back track with my position and my status. I may be still under process of getting back to my usual life, but achieving it now is much more easier than before.:devious:

I was also mistaken that, I was much more socially accepted than any one else. But, I was mistaken, people like person who is overspoken and much more in their life consciously. Everyone around you is also insecure in this fast demanding world. So, it is advisable to be with people who are with you. Being irrespective is hamper to your own image in their views.

A failure is not a stabbing on your back, there is always a comeback in life, if you are not giving up.
Never under estimate yourself neither over.......jus be you and be interactive with all to grow in your circle.

Hey friend

I need help. I'm a callow in the world of programming. I'm coming from a background asp.net
and c#.net.

I have a task to create a flash file as per the client interactions on a flex application.

Its just simple, I have created a creater where user makes 3 canvas with different Bgcolor n some text.
i have to create a flash of this 3 canvas where they will run 1 at a time in some time line
that I have to do at the asp/c#.net end by using the swfio.net library.

My question is, How could I send the 3 canvas objects to the asp.net page.
I donno much bout XML too

Can I create flash within my Flex application using these
3 canvas's??
If yes then how??

Pls help as soon as possible!!
